“Social media is a Marmite concept that divides businesses. Some see it as passing fad full of people with too much time on their hands telling the world what they had for breakfast, and can’t see what relevance it could have to their business…”

Ireland Road Trip

The importance of quality

What is quality to a brand? And why is it so important?

For a strong and successful brand, quality is at its core. It is in everything that they do and is what its loyal customers have come to expect. Whether it be run of the mill paperwork such as a branded invoice; the way a telephone call is dealt with or the timely delivery of an order – these all amount to the customer’s experience of the brand. At all times a brand’s physical evidence, service, product, and online presence should be consistent and executed to the highest level of excellence.

With the advent of social networking, keeping your quality levels high has never been so important. A customer’s negative experience can now spread like wild fire. Where previously they may have told their local network, with a few taps of the keyboard their rant can now go global. Hashtags such as #fail group together user’s comments and make them easier to find. It is imperative that companies monitor the online buzz around their brand and respond accordingly.

The Jobs Link has launched!

In today’s marketplace, 70% of jobs are found through networks. A new social networking site www.thejobslink.com lets job seekers make connections instantly to find the right job for them. The Jobs Link enables job seekers to find and offer support, browse vacancies and seek expert advice.

Built using Social Engine, The Garden Room Digital managed the creative concepting and design production of the site.

In order to build a core base of users (job seekers, recruiters and career specialists), we devised and are running an ongoing acquisition strategy which includes targetted Facebook advertisements; Twitter moderation and conversations with prospects; an incentivised Twitter campaign and a Forums competition.

Top Twitter Campaigns of 2010

“What better way to promote all the beautiful things about your country than to leave it to its happy residents? Ireland took to the (Twitter) streets this year with their My Irish 140 campaign. UK residents were encouraged to tweet their favorite things about their Irish heritage along with the hashtag #MakesMeIrish. The campaign was coupled with a giveaway prize of a 140-hour Irish adventure. Clever!”

Social media is a force too powerful to ignore

Still a relatively recent concept, social media is spreading fast. Social networking now accounts for 22% of all time spent online in the US. Between December 2008 and December 2009, total visits to the top 10 social networking sites increased 63%. Nearly one in 10 Internet visits ends up at a social network; nearly one in four page views is on a social networking site.

The conversations taking place on these social networks can build or erode your brand, your reputation, leads, sales and revenue. Outspoken and respected individuals can influence masses of friends and followers to change their opinions about your brand. They can reproach you or praise you. You can assuage them, cultivate them and turn them into your strongest advocates; or not.
